A FIRST FOR PRETORIA!
FICTION BAR opened its doors during October 2009 at
the back section of
DETOUR SHOW BAR when we identified a need for men
who prefer to be
separated from the general gay clientele and lesbians
partying in the
general club area.
At first a tiny little bar with a pool table and a small private
area, it
soon became very popular and overcrowded, particularly on
Friday and
Saturday nights.
We decided to enlarge the bar to provide more seating and
private areas.
Extensive renovations and expansion included a brand new
big bar with sufficient seating, and a additional seating area
and pool table as well as wooden benches and seating for
up to 30 people outside in an enclosed garden area under
a big tree.
The new lay-out also provided for a new private entrance to
FRICTION BAR
on the western side of the building.
This entrance will be used on evenings such as Sundays,
Mondays and
Tuesdays when Detour are closed.
All other nights patrons enter at the Detour main entrance.
FRICTION is the only bar in Pretoria where only gay and
bisexual men are allowed and
allows for private meeting areas.
Featuring a modern feeling with mirrors, chrome and blue
lighting, the
atmosphere and feel is very macho and trendy.
